Description

The 3M™ Scratch Removal Kit 39071 will allow you to correct your scratched paints. Ideal for light scratches and oxidation, rubbing marks and other scratches.

The 3M™ 39071 Scratch Removal Kit eliminates small and medium scratches on paint varnish. Use of 3M™ Trizact™ abrasive technology.

SANDING AND SCRATCH REDUCTION

1. Clean the surface of the area to be repaired with an automotive shampoo. Dry the surface completely with a clean, dry cloth.

2. Spray water on the repair area where you will use Trizact™ grain P3000 abrasive. Sand the scratch area (10cm x 10cm) with light to medium pressure using the grey/green side of the abrasive disc. During sanding, a white foam will appear. This indicates that the abrasive performs the scratch reduction well.

3. Wipe the sanded surface with a soft cloth every 10 seconds. If the scratch is still visible, continue the operation. The sanded area will become matte during the sanding process.

4. Observe the area from multiple angles to ensure total scratch removal. When the scratch is no longer visible, wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth.

POLISHING AND SCRATCH REMOVAL

Do not use foam without polishing liquid.

When using the drill, do not stagnate on the surface: always work in motion to avoid heating up the surface and the risk of damage to the paint.

5. Unplug the drill. Mount the foam support tray. Fix the purple foam, making sure it is well centered. Place a small amount of 3M™ polishing liquid on top of the purple foam. Spread the liquid on the matte area using the foam before starting the drill, which will reduce splashes. Caution: use with caution around door handles, mirrors, bumpers, and adjacent panels. The edge of the black support tray can damage the paint.

6. Polish the matte area with an extra 5 cm all around this area. Work with light to medium pressure with comfortable rotational speed keeping the purple foam flat against the surface. Work by operating up and down and left to right movements to ensure that all areas are polished. Reduce the pressure at the end of the operation in order to obtain the desired gloss. Repeat if scratches or blurred/dull areas are still visible.

7. Wipe the area by hand with a clean, dry microfiber cloth to remove excess liquids. Purple foam can be rinsed with water for future use.

POLISHING AND RESTORATION OF GLOSS

8. Remove the purple polishing foam and replace it with the black polishing foam. Place a small amount of 3M™ Erase Scratches on the area. Spread the polishing liquid with the black foam on the area to be repaired. This will reduce projections. Caution: use with caution around door handles, mirrors, bumpers, and adjacent panels. The edge of the black support tray can cause damage to the paint.

9. Polish the previously worked area and extend beyond this repair area by about 5 cm. Work with light to medium pressure with comfortable rotational speed keeping the black foam flat against the surface. Polishing by operating up and down and left to right movements to ensure all areas are polished. Reduce the pressure at the end of the operation in order to obtain the desired gloss. Repeat the application if necessary. Wipe the areas by hand with a clean, dry microfiber cloth to remove excess liquids. Black foam can be rinsed with water for future use. For better protection, apply car wax to the repaired area and the entire vehicle. For best results, 3M recommends the use of 3M™ 39030 Synthetic Performance Finish.
