Preparation advice:

Before entering the lusting process, it is crucial to carefully prepare the surface of the gelcoat. Here are some tips for optimal preparation:

1. Clean in Deep: Use a specific cleaner to remove any dirt, fat, and other contaminants from the gelcoat surface. Make sure the surface is completely dry before moving to the next step.
2. Pepper with Orbital Pepper: To close the porosity of the gelcoat and obtain a smooth and uniform surface, make a light sanding with an orbital sander equipped with an abrasive disk on film grain 800 and 1500 (start with grain 500 if needed), then finish with a Trizact P3000 disc. This will facilitate polishing.
3. Inspect the Surface: After sanding, visually inspect the surface to ensure that it is free from deep stripes, bumps or other major defects. If necessary, repeat sanding on problematic areas.
   

1. 3M 36102 Perfect-It Gelcoat Heavy Cutting Compound 946 ml

The high-performance 3M Perfect-It Gelcoat Heavy Cutting Compound is your ally to remove important oxidation traces, tenacious scratches and other defects on the surface of your polyester boat. Its improved formula remains wet longer, thus facilitating its application and reducing dust production. Resistant even in warm climate, it offers exceptional results with minimal use of product.

Instructions for use:

• After carefully cleaning the surface, apply a small amount of 3M Perfect-It Gelcoat Heavy Cutting compound on the 3M white sheep skin.
• Work the surface by sections, making circular movements at a moderate speed using your rotary chandelier.
• Use light to medium pressure to avoid damage to gelcoat.
• Continue the process until defects are eliminated and the surface is smooth and shiny.
• Delicately wipe any compound residue with a clean and soft Laser Polish microfiber cloth.
